Spring admit no big deal. Take that option. Great school!
My DC was turned off by it because when you tour the school, almost every person who is asked about their favorite memories or traditions at W&M named things that happen in Fall of freshman year. It was really off-putting. Ultimately got off the WL, but chose to go elsewhere.
May I ask when your child got off the waitlist? Month? Year? The waitlist has sooooo many kids on it.
Please provide a link where the waitlist numbers are posted.
The waitlist numbers can be found in the Common Data Set. However, should you accept the Waitlist and do the pathways for spring admission, your kis will show under the 'D: Transfer Admission' section and not in the 'B: First-Time First-Year Admission' section of the Common Data. Now the difference between a normal fall transfer and the WL spring transfer is that those spring kids are guaranteed spring admission if they meet the course & gpa requirements. While fall transfer will additionally depend on space available. I trust they have a pretty good idea of the number of kids taking the spring pathway route and the level of success which lead to a certain number of WL spring admission kids. Just like they know to estimate the numbers needed to fill all fall seats.
