Calpack came out with a new soft one recently but it's pretty pricey - less than Briggs though. I used to swear by hardshells but now I prefer soft - you can fit more in with front pockets if you find the right bags. I have a monos and I'm so surprised I don't love it more. I SWEAR by my briggs. It really is crazy money but what I can fit in that thing is worth every penny. I have the soft 22in expandable with compression button. I have more affordable, stylish, lighter, popular luggage but damn if this is not the most awesomest carry on for what I can fit. That front pocket will hold 3 pairs of my shoes which is 1/2 the battle in terms of travelling for 7+ days. I can get a pillow, blanket, 3 pairs of shoes plus enough clothes for like 10 days in that thing. It's frigging amazing in terms of capacity. I looked a long time for a spinner that was 22x14 carryon size which can hold the most and I'm convinced this is the only one by far that holds the most. That front pocket is the bomb.
DP. I love B and R- do they still make this model and can you provide a link? Front pocket sounds great.
Go to Amazon and just type Briggs Riley 22 in spinner soft. The front pocket is U shaped so you can get bulky shoes in - it's deep and wide which I just haven't seen any where else. The compression feature is so unique which is what allows so much stuff and so is the handle bars on outside of bag so clothing lays flat inside - you just get a better space interior, unlike all other luggage. I would say for me it's these 3 features that make me love it but I don't think it's worth the price point. I just want the thing and love it - lol!
