In Arlington County, a student OD'd and sadly passed away at one of the high schools a few months ths ago. There have been at least 2 overdoses in the HS I work at in Fairfax this year. They do not publicize it even to the staff. I found out through students talking in my classes.
OMG. It’s like the kid never existed. Awful.
I’m sure the school pressures the family to keep quiet. Despicable.
I’m a teacher and have had three students fatally overdose in the course of my career. The families never wanted the information to be made public. They were embarrassed and ashamed. One of the schools in our region had a serious problem with heroin 10-15 years ago, coincidentally when capacity reached close to 3,000 and it was too hard to monitor so many kids. Now other schools are at the same place except with fentanyl.
