OP-here I agree but if the Democrats don't give us decent options, many people will in fact vote Republican.  I agree with PPs that this process should not be tied to political parties but that seems like a wish. [/quote]

It is a bit of a prayer.  It will be interesting to see which party does a better job over the coming months of conveying the impression that it’s interested in a “big tent.”  We may just be left with an increasing number of voters who vote for one party’s candidates in national or federal elections and for another party’s candidates for local and state offices.
