More broadly, there's about 110,000 school-age kids in DC and about 85,000 of them don't attend their neighborhood DCPS school. That's an awful lot of daily trips, and an awful lot of travel time.

But here's the thing: you can't force them to attend their local schools. DCPS has to draw them, and that's something DCPS has proven incapable of. [/quote]

Ok but a lot of people walk to their school even if it isn't their IB school. And for a lot of people (I am one of them), the school they actually attend is physically closer than their IB school. [/quote]
