How much homework do Eastern kids have to do? What type of homework? Thanks.
My kid is in 9th now, and what I remember is a ton of homework in 6th grade English (writing responses to questions based on reading, essays, etc.), and a moderate load of homework in the other 6th grade classes. 7th grade was virtual, but the IDRP (independent research project) paper in the first semester was a lot of work researching, writing notecards, rough drafts, etc., which then turned into a group project for National History Day in the winter. 8th grade actually seemed to have the least amount of homework, but a lot of group projects. The transition to 6th grade was tough, with tears and frustration over the homework load. It got better, and my kid learned some really good time management skills and ways to break down big projects into manageable steps.
