I love to use the fancy stuff, and I love to add to my collection(s). Why don’t I ever see the patterns I’m looking for in cheap Facebook marketplace posts or at thrift stores? I wish I would cross paths with all of these people who hate inheriting China, crystal, and silver (sob!).
OP here. I think part of the challenge I have is I already have my own set of china that I use daily. 25 plus years ago a lot of us still registered for china. In addition to my mother's extensive crystal and jasperware collection, I am also left with one set of china from 1929 which was my grandmother She wanted me to keep this art deco set too. So I think fir me it is the sheer volume thatvus is the issue. It's good the younger generation doesn't register for fine china as much anymore. If they really need some they can probably ask around within the family. I was looking at a waterford pitcher I have from her, from the 1980s. I'm going to use it as a water jug for dinner. It's actually quite attractive bc it has no handle and has a slightly more contemporary lines.
