I was an egg donor in college ten years ago. AMA. I love that my donation (hopefully) created a family that wouldn’t otherwise exist. The money was helpful but not the main reason I did it. I hope the family was honest with the kids that they were donor conceived. I do believe that hiding that is unethical. I haven’t seen any data showing that there are long term effects. It’s the same procedure as IVF and as far as I know there’s no evidence that IVF is linked to cancer.
I am the parent of a donor egg baby and I am so thankful and happy that there are people in the world like you. My child is 2 and I love her to bits. We speak about the composition of our family in terms she can understand and will share about the donation when she is old enough to understand. This thread feels pretty toxic (i should have known not to click) but I am glad to see your comment.
+1000 Another parent of a donor egg baby (actually, babies), and I am beyond grateful and so, so thankful that our donor was kind enough to help us create a family in this way. I have POF/POI (diagnosed at 32) and there was just no chance of having a family without egg donation or adoption. I am grateful to our donor every single day.
