https://amp.marca.com/en/lifestyle/tv-shows/2022/12/17/639e16e4268e3eab508b4599.html Cavill accused of toxic behavior against women on Witcher set. Makes sense why he was replaced on Witcher and Superman. There’s likely more bad press coming. Remember: he said a lot of bad stuff during the Me, Too movement.
I blog professionally. I know, everyone says they're a blogger, but I am. I look at the internet all day long and read huge amounts of both news and pop culture material. I couldn't resist looking at this link posted above. Really read it, PP. The writing is exactly like many other sites I've seen where the "post" is horribly written and in fact sounds like either a bot or like something that's been extensively run through translation software. There are "content farms" that pay people overseas an obscene pittance to churn out material like this. It's often run through a translation program before it's posted and you can detect the stilted, odd language choices. Does that make the content false? Not necessarily, but it does make it worth questioning. In terms of content: The post actually says clearly that there are no sexual allegations. The content of the post linked above simply repeats tweets based on a podcast (so...third hand: A post based on tweets based on a podcast, got that?). And the allegation is that "he would overrule" the female showrunner and he showed "disrespect" toward "women writers" and others on the production team. That's it. The sum of all the so-called allegations is so vague we have no idea what "overrule" and "disrespect" meant. All of that tracks perfectly with what an earlier PP noted: It's been reported in far more reputable sources for a while now that Cavill consistently took issue with the scripts diverging from the books, and would tell the producers and writers that. Smells like a hit job trying to smear him and spin the story as "He's a misogynist" rather than "He's a purist who argued about the scripts." As a woman, that spin offends me; women who are showrunners or writers should be able to take it on the chin if their work is at issue. I am not a Cavill fan one way or the other but I loathe crap like this being taken as "facts" about anyone.
