It sounds like you handled the process completely wrong. You shouldn't have made such a big deal about getting in prior to the fact, or not getting in after the fact. The significance of AAP for you should not have even been on her radar. If a second grader is devastated about not being accepted into AAP then something went very wrong with how everything was presented to her.[/quote] I completely agree with this. If your child is "devestated" it is because she either feels like she let you down or like she isn't as smart as her friends. She shouldn't know anything about it other than that some kids go to a different school starting in 3rd grade because they learn differently. [/quote]
