No one is defending what took place in that picture, but at some point, you have to move on. You can run for the seat in two years if you are still that bitter about it. The ANC are volunteer positions that take a lot of time. In most cases, someone runs because no one else will. Why don't you step up?
I love it. Block avenues of accountability and then tell people to “move on”. This is not serious.
What avenues of accountability were blocked? If you want to initiate a recall election, that is the place to go. A paper resolution offered at the last moment is not accountability.
This is not serious. They removed discussion from the agenda of the meeting citing Roberts Rules of Order like cowards.
Discussion wasn't removed. There was no notice that this would be on their agenda. No one knew this was even under consideration until Nancy decided to air dirty laundry on the listserv. It was a classless move, but par for the course from her. The bridge builder she claims to be- she should have worked with other commissioners to craft something that was both not against the rules and had buy-in from Chair Finley. Beau sounded pretty angry about what his allies did, so there was clearly room for doing something other than last night's performative sh*tshow.
Sure. Its just the new ANC crushing anyone who goes against them. The classless move was giving the finger and tweeting about it. The back room deal has been made and they will do everything but resign make this go away. This is totally anti democratic but I am sure you are proud.
The classless move is continuing to fight over something that has been resolved. That is a very divisive activity, but that is what the opponents of the bike lanes continue to do., despite it being proven time and again that they are in the minority opinion of the topic. Take the loss and move on.
I know this doesn't fit with your narrative, but I support bike lanes and other safety measures on Connecticut Avenue as well as bike infrastructure overall. My abhorrence of what i've been watching throughout the election and now in last night's meeting has nothing to do with my bike lane position and everything to do with the disrespect and disregard these commissioners have shown to anyone who is not fully sold on their vision and agenda. While the bike lane debate will likely go my way, as you have so often reminded people, it's because the lanes are supported by the Mayor and Cheh and many other people, not because of these ANC reps. The reps will, however, have some influence over future decisions about our neighborhood. There is a lot coming down the pike (avenue?) that will require respectful collaboration to meet the needs of as many people as possible, and the idea that this is who we have "representing" us is concerning.
