On Thursday morning our FT nanny/housekeeper told us that our daughter accidentally kicked her in the head as she was getting DD dressed for school. She asked for Tylenol but worked the full day, she also worked all day on Friday. At 4am on Monday her husband sent a text to say that she was ‘at the ER again’ and would not be coming to work. Last night she sent me a text to say she had just gotten home, that she has a concussion and is dizzy so she can’t work for at least a week. What would you do or think?
I would do what 14:43 suggests. I would also pay all medical expenses. You sound like you think she is scamming you. I hope your nanny reads this so she sees you for what you are
And plenty of Nannies do scam so she is right to be honest but open minded to all options for what is really going on. I’m a PP who definitely experienced being taken advantage of and swindled/lied to by a nanny. Her husband actually texted and called to let me know what was going on bc we had been very good to the family for years and he felt bad. OP has done everything correctly but is right to ask questions and not just assume everyone is being honest and forthcoming.
