Also, this is not a convenient time for me and probably a lot of people to have my DC bring a very specific item in every day next week.  I'll be out of town and I know my DH will not be able to remember what goes each day or even remember to bring the stuff in at all (even if I clearly mark them and lay them out).

It is very forced and annoying.  I also realize that the email requests (and many of you here) say that it is just a recommendation and don't participate if you don't want to, but come on.  R[b]eality is that if you don't it will be noticed by the teacher and by the busy-body SAHMs who sit in the classroom all day because they have nothing better to do.
