It can happen. Just send Wilson in, they all adore him. Ultimately, they just want the permits for their kitchen remodels and he gets that done for them so they'll go along with whatever he says. As one of the zoning commissioners said (he lives over by Brooks and said it about his neighborhood) people need to start making sacrifices. The schools are massively over crowded. This NIMBY-ism has to stop. That is a HUGE lot. They are planning on a huge school anyway to replace what's there. The city is going to have to get creative. I hear the old building is coming down so I hope the city looks at it with fresh eyes and uses every square inch of that lot.
LOL. Wilson is loved only by Del Ray. The rest of the city is ready to kick his a$$ out. Get what you want from him now because he and his cronies are gone at the next election. The best plan would have been to turn Minnie Howard into a Class A sports complex and then ACHS into a high school fashioned after a junior college type of campus. We would have city-wide access to world class sports complex and make some money at the same time. Then the second high school should be in the GW building, and the middle school population over in the Central Office building, which isn't being fully utilized since most staff are WFH now. If we can put elementary kids in an office building then we can certainly put middle schoolers in an office building.
I wish that were true but it wasn't. They LOVE him in the GM neighborhood. He lied to their faces about adult housing at the school and they all still voted for him and are thrilled when he pays them any attention. He'll be mayor for life. And this council of his isn't going anywhere. Except for Gaskins, bet she runs for Beyers seat in the next four to six years.
He’s totally waiting for Beyer to retire. He’s relatively young and has much higher ambitions.
