The problem with this is that if the parents don't reveal what's going on with their ND child, other people, including friends and family, will hold the ND child to the standards of a NT child, and this is setting your ND child up for failure. And hiding things makes it sound like it's something shameful that needs to be hidden. For example, we took this ND child along to an outdoor Easter egg hunt party at our friend's house. All it took was a few minutes of us looking the other way while we greeted the hosts for this to happen. Well, that and their parents not giving them their medication that morning. The same ND child also kept going to the VIP adults-only pool at a resort we were visiting, which caused lots of people to get angry with him and our group. If it were something we could just explain to other members of our group, and even the resort managers, they'd probably still be annoyed but at least they might be a bit more understanding and realize he wasn't doing it to piss them off. It all turns into "you need to teach your child to behave better!" if they aren't made aware of the underlying issues at play.[/quote]
