It’s better than rec if you want your kid to get prepared for the next level. Even 450 isn’t bad for a 4-5 month season.  Some AAU Teams will charge you $200-$500 per month.[/quote]

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Our kid does two other sports--one three seasons out of the four and one is fall and spring, but our kid is above rec level for bball. But we are not looking to do bball beyond the winter season/not looking for AAU, so maybe select isn't the way to go. Seems like we may be taking someone else's spot. We'll just go clean up in the rec league instead.[/quote]

Just play up a year in rec. if your kid is that good, leagues will let you. Then he will have some challenge.[/quote]

+1. But I suggest losing the comment that he will "go clean up in rec." lots of good players in rec and frankly it makes you sound like a tool.[/quote]
