I know people who text or do voice calls with their ILs far more than I do, but they aren't sitting down to a FaceTime. Regular video calls really only make sense for young kids because they can't read/write yet and a voice call may not give them the context they need. Even with grandkids, once they are 8 or so, it's going to be more comfortable for everyone to just do phone calls or texts most of the time.[/quote]
