Youngkin is not interesting in a state takeover of schools.  He wants to implement for-profit private/charter schools and implement a voucher program to fund them with public money.  His plan to accomplish this is to drive public schools so far into the ground (or at least make people believe they are absolutely terrible) so he can build public support for an alternative program that ultimately will benefit the wealthy at the expense of low-income students. I think charters would be a good experiment in Alexandria because even the wealthy neighborhood schools are bottom tier. Fairfax and Loudoun certainly don't need charters since there are decent schools in those jurisdictions.[/quote]

The only thing it will accomplish is to pull money and resources away from the schools. It will only hurt, not help ACPS.
