And the backpack is bulky enough that a middle school sized child or teacher can't fit between two chairs when they are in table groups. There is no space for 30+ backpacks "in a corner" of a standard size classroom in most FCPS middle schools. I'm honestly not sure why this is a not a thing at the hs level...perhaps they don't move around the room as much as in middle school when we try to plan lots of activities that involve getting up and moving around? It's as much about the kids not tripping as the teacher. I'm unclear as to why they are building classrooms smaller when they renovate vs. larger. I am in a newer building and the rooms are tiny given the number of students per class. [/quote]
