Where would you consider moving to in this region if you are very disturbed and scared of local progressive taking over your local govt? I am extremely troubled by the developments in MoCo. Businesses and jobs are fleeing and/or not even considering MoCo anymore. Crime is rising because of the progressive criminal justice reforms. I fear that crime will continue to rise, school quality will get worse, and as the tax base heads for the doors the county's progressives' only solutions ever will be to try to raise taxes on residents to stop the bleeding in terms of the budget as revenues will inevitably decline. Where would you go to escape this same fiasco for replaying over again if you were considering relocating? It is basically impossible to push back with common sense legislation, ideas, and candidates. The county is so far gone in terms of one-sided echo chamber rule that I think there is no more hope left of ever saving this sinking ship. Terrified of all of these progressives and how much they threaten the equity we have vested in our home as well. Their other initiative is basically to ruin all SFHs via Thrive MoCo 2050. What a disaster in the works. Where can we go to transfer the equity of our home and save ourselves from likely huge tax increases to fund their agendas?
You are terrified? Of what? Humanity? Please, take the next train, plane, or automobile (or auto train!) to Florida. ASAP. They are waiting for you.
No, it's logical to be terrified of progressive politics that will inevitably lead to more crime. We are already seeing in MoCo everyday. Carjackings, shootings, vandalism, assaults, home invasions, and murders are all up. Members of the new council are extreme anti-police types who propose asinine ideas likes community intervention specialists that will some how magically prevent crime. We all know the predictable will happen as crime will sky rocket up now that the county has no repercussions for committing crime, and no one on the streets to actually enforce the laws. People will flee high crime, schools will deteriorate, and then property values will go down. It starts snowballing with crime. And one doesn't even have to consider greedy motivations like property values. I'm terrified of progressives because you now have to be more scared that you will become a victim of crime since there are no more consequences for criminals. Physical and bodily harm is absolutely something to be concerned about. Gangs are running rampant in MoCo. Shootings in areas like DTSS are absolutely out of control. MoCo is literally turning into Baltimore in terms of crime and quality of schools.
I'm sorry, but I think you just struggle with a lot things you don't understand and you conflate it with politics that you don't understand. Your term "out of control" is literally out of control. And your facts and broad statements are not factual, to say the least. Nothing has changed in this area because of politics. The area has become more populated, that's all. If you had an all Republican government here, the things you mention will still be issues. I have no idea what you mean about property values, they have skyrocketed in the last 18 months. You are worried about shootings? And yet you want Republican leadership. Seriously, dude, what have you missed here? Seriously, leave. No one here will have a problem with that.
Sorry, you're wrong: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/md-politics/prince-georges-has-overtaken-montgomery-as-top-job-creator-in-maryland-suburbs/2020/01/19/218c3646-38b6-11ea-bf30-ad313e4ec754_story.html https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2022/01/homicides-carjackings-up-in-montgomery-county/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/falling-stars-some-schools-see-a-decline-in-ratings-in-maryland-suburbs/2019/12/03/e033402a-1535-11ea-8406-df3c54b3253e_story.html A lot IS changing... for the worse. MoCo is losing in the jobs race. School quality has been declining for years. Serious crimes are going up. But continue to stick your head in the sand, as if progressives hold some magical key to enlightenment they allows only them to understand what's going on in the county. Progressives are rotting the entire MoCo from within..
I've lived in Montgomery Co since 1958. Seriously, the only thing that has changed is more development. What has changed population wise is more people and more people from many countries- like everywhere. That is it. There is crime everywhere. There is far less crime here than many other places. Schools are fine. MoCo has always has great schools. Businesses are thriving. Plenty of jobs. You are full of BS. You are a conservative zenophobic person who might not be that bright, and you seem highly provincial. You won’t be happy here. So- go.
Do you have kids in school? Because if you don't, and particularly in high school, you have no idea how violent they have become.
Or how standards have completely crashed. But thanks for continuing to pay those property taxes, my friend…
