Hey are those extra seats in Takoma Park reserved exactly for politicians’ kids? Seems like it.
There are no "extra seats in Takoma Park" for the Blair magnet program.
I know right. MCPS forum seems to attract the most trolls: private schools parents and wannabes, haters from other school districts.
The lady above said there are extra seats reserved for TP kids.
For TPMS magnet, but not for Blair.
The pols' kids were zoned for Blair. Does anyone know for a fact they all got into the magnet. Raskin's kid probably did on his own merits. But my kid is at RMIB and non-magnet kids can take the IB classes. Is it the same at Blair?
Some of these magnet courses at Blair are also just regular courses at other high schools. For example, Origin of Science or Linear Algebra are available at other schools but at Blair they're listed as magnet courses open to others who meet the pre-reqs. I'm not sure if the content is the same but am curious. Yes, in 11th and 12th grade if student has prerequisites and there is space in the class.
