What type of child do you think would thrive in a high school magnet? I have a 7th grader who has always complained that school doesn't teach her as much as she wants to know, does her work in the blink of an eye, and is an advanced math classes and writes very well for her age. What are the criteria for admission?
At the very least, consider an IB program. That said, many exceptionally strong MS students do not actually thrive in high school magnets. They might survive, but there’s a lot of burnout. I think a big piece is that these kids don’t just do accelerated coursework. They also are often in multiple student organizations and/or play a sport or instrument. We’re vigilant all the time about how DD is doing emotionally. She gets so little sleep. It’s like a mark of pride, how few hours they all sleep.
