Harry and David's specializes in....fruit.  With add-ons of cheeses and meats.

That’s because you probably don’t know much about Jenis. They use local farms, most of which are grass fed and/or organic. Obviously you have to pre-package and freeze ice cream! But the ingredients are minimally processed with no chemical extras/preservatives like the Harry and David blocks of cheese that could survive an atomic bomb. [/quote]

Funny thing, I actually looked up Jeni's nutritional information before I posted.

First, you are mixing two very different things. The fact that the dairy comes from local farms has nothing to do with whether the ice cream is "pre-packaged and processed."  Both can be true.
Second,  take a look at their ingredient list.  You'll see tons of Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Soy Lecithin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sunflower Lecithin, Annatto (Color)],  Maltodextrin, Carnauba Wax, Cellulose Gum, dextrose.  So what exactly do you mean by "processed"?  What is your definition, if Jeni's does not meet it?
Third, the ingredient list for H&D's sharp cheddar cheese is: Pasteurized milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes.  The ingredient list for their gouda is: cultured pasteurized milk, salt, enzymes, annatto color.  If that meets your definition of "processed"  what doesn't?

I suspect that the marketing strategy to make consumers feel somehow more "virtuous" eating Jeni products worked very well on you.
