I’m registered D for the first time in my life to vote for Blair that’s how much I want Elrich out.
I considered this as well. MoCo is on a downward spiral of haves vs. the have nots. Our schools are a mess. We desperately need to broaden our tax base with more investment from businesses in the county. Elrich isn't going to help this.
Agreed. I’m also strongly in support of Blair. Elrich and Riemer lost my respect during the SRO “debate.” We watched two elected officials completely disregard viewpoints that didn’t fit their narrow views. There was no attempt to gauge the community’s feelings. The opinions of people who work in schools were completely ignored. I was appalled how remarkably biased and disingenuous that process was.
Yes! I remember Nancy Navarro giving Will Jawando a lecture when he (and Riemer) introduced their bill to prohibit police on school campuses. She was dressing them down for taking the decision away from the schools and the Board of Education, who were, at the time, all women but one. MCPS subsequently went on to do a really thorough examination of the program, the benefits and drawbacks. But Elrich pulled them before MCPS released its findings. Because of course he knows better than everyone else. There is a growing pro-SRO movement in the county right now, and press and councilmembers have been invited to all their forums. None have shown up (I have been to all of them). What good is "leadership" if you don't at least listen to community voices? Even when you don't agree. Especially when you don't agree.
