PP, I have to agree with you. Juniors and Seniors are not desirable choice for kids who want to compete. It often depends on swimmers. KSAC move kids from low level to high level whenever they see good results from meet. I can give you an example A swimmer had been Junior from 9 to 12 ---- in the middle of season, the kid suddenly became very fast -- KSAC pulled the kid out from Juniors and placed into Advanced Seniors. Now the swimmer is at NTG. Of course majority of juniors will end up into seniors if they don't show any sign of progress. I also know two swimmers from Seniors to STG and then Advanced Seniors and NTG All I want to say they do move swimmers and they do so only when they see the swimmers make some progress. Don't assume my kid is a superstar swimmer. Mine is not and I can tell you mine has just been dumped into Seniors after 5 plus in advanced group. Just try to be fair/objective
Agree, but this isn't what this mom is even asking. With RMSC its all about speed, not technique and they only care about the top swimmers. Ours just swim for exercise and fun so we don't care but I really wish we did an alternative with juniors as the coach took all the joy away from swimming. We were so happy to move up to seniors. With covid/no distancing/no transparency our kids are barely swimming and we are basically paying to hold the slot till things get better. Really disappointed in how they handled Covid last year. The juniors and seniors is a money grab and the focus is only on the top kids. Early on we paid for weekly private lessons. OP, if you go RMSC, consider private lessons for stroke (we stopped them due to covid or we'd still be doing them). You either pay for better coaching at a private club (if you get it) or RMSC and private lessons. Once you get past RMSC juniors - Advanced or Seniors the prices go way up - so when you are comparing prices, look at future prices as the child gets older and not just juniors. We had a huge shock to see the price from Juniors to Seniors and the swim times are terrible.
