Does anyone else find it weird that parents are talking about this as though they are the ones who are taking the math classes? I just told my kid the implications of taking it in 7th, including the issue of math during high school, and left the decision to my kid and their teacher. But I guess maybe some kids need and want more of a micromanaging approach (and I don’t mean that as an insult, I’m just surprised).
I am a PP on this thread and we are discussing our thoughts/opinions with our child, as we would with many decisions he has or will make in life. I also have older kids…did we talk about where to go to college or what to major in? Absolutely! Did we dictate it? Nope. Happy to share my thoughts with my kids including pointing out any considerations they may be overlooking. An 11 year old may not be thinking several years down the road. I would actually find it weird NOT to talk to my kids and discuss these things.
PP here and I think we are on the same page!
