Back when I was working but broke, I regularly played the "how can I arrange my bills so that I don't get an overdraft fee before payday" game. That's what it is to live paycheck to paycheck. You're always like a $5 debit card charge away from getting hit with $150 in overdraft fees because you forgot your cell phone bill get's paid on the 12th, not the 15th.
I remember those days. You brought back some memories. How about this - you are driving to work on the 14th and feel relief you have a full tank of gas and don’t have to spend your upcoming paycheck on gas. The mental accounting was exhausting. I make significantly more money than I used to but am so paranoid of returning to those days that I save aggressively. I’d love, and can afford, to own a $1.5 million house on 3 acres, but I never want to be poor again. I guess I live paycheck to paycheck, but I’m only doing that because I’m saving so much. Zero dollar budget, in other words.
