My MIL has actually critized my housekeeping, mostly when I had two very little kids, and a full-time job, and absolutely no help. So sometimes, it was clutttered. And when we had them over, I used clean, but wrinkled napkins (she actually said, I know you can't afford a full-time housekeeper, but what about having someone come in once a week to iron your linens? I'm not kidding!). Anyway, she is so critical, and her house is actually kept quite clean because she has many housekeepers, etc. However, her food hygiene is gross. No hand washing throughout cooking, including licking her fingers and blowing her nose (not that she cooks that often, only when we are out there for a special occasion). She has this thing where she puts small bunches of grapes in a bowl of cold water and we are all supposed to pick out what we want throughout lunch. So, my gross FIL, who has been eating a sandwich and chips will then stick his fingers in the bowl of water with grapes floating in it, then we're all expected to do the same. Everytime, she pushes the grapes on me and I just say, no thanks. It's like one step removed from bobbing from apples. But I'm the bad housekeeper.
