I’m curious if we’ll learn more information about this from this horrific event. Did the school have active shooter drills (or intruder drills as they call it in my DCPS kindergartner’s class)? Was it effective?

It’s so hard to think about, but what I read about those who were identified was a 4th grade teacher and 4th graders. Perhaps he entered one classroom, and there was no warning or time to prepare there, but the carnage was not worse because the alarm was sounded and other classrooms were prepared? Or perhaps it made no difference at all.

I remember reading after one of the recent HS shootings that the kids locked the door and hid and heard the gunman outside try to open the locked door  and move on. [/quote]
