If your company puts you in France for a year to deal with a specific thing, and then you return to the US as planned, I don't really consider you an expat even though you "lived and worked" in another country. Even had a work visa! Still not an expat in the way I think of it. I'm not upset about it, but that's not really what I'm talking about when I refer to an expat.[/quote]
