My DD grew up here in DC and attends UCLA. Growing up in DC, many of our kids are very interested and well-versed in politics and what's going on in the world. DD was surprised to find that most California kids that she has met could care less about politics and world affairs. She was also shocked to meet so many kids who have don't have a passport or traveled outside the country, but have never even left the state of California and have no idea what life is like anywhere else. And these are UMC students - not first gens. She didn't expect that at a place like UCLA. [/quote]
