Do you just assume an accident can't or won't happen to you?[/quote] Seatbelts, IMO help more for impacts from front and back. Very big risk of going through the windshield. If my older children sit in the passenger seat, they wear seatbelts. If you're hit/hit someone from the side, the seatbelt is ineffective. This is just my opinion.
