They are furloughed and have no job during that time. [/quote] Not really the point of the post but I am genuinely curious as to why the summer off weeks are described as furlough? For example if you make 60k that is a yearly salary and you would divide by 12 and that is your monthly amount - knowing that you may receive it in 9-10 months but it is a yearly salary. I’m more curious from a business/financial perspective as I am a consultant ( self- employed) and always take off December, August, and often July. After 5+ years, I know my “ salary” and budget it over 12 months. For example, I know that November is my last check until end January when I bill for that month and it won’t post until February. I’ve allocated a budget based on my yearly salary which helps me. May not work for everyone but this mindset helps me.[/quote]
