Not to pile on - but I don’t get putting in the effort and planning meals for them if they are not even willing to wash a pot. Let them figure it out for themselves.
It's day 2, they ate TV dinners, asked what about real food. Honestly, I'm on strike. These 2 need to learn to do something in the kitchen. But I'm not willing to live among 10 crusty dirty pots they refuse to wash. This is my strike, not theirs!!
My mom went on strike when I was a teenager or maybe not quite a teenager. It was very effective. She did the grocery shopping but we were on our own to eat it. If she cooked herself dinner she would make enough for us to eat, but that was not every night. I remember her also helping me cook sometimes when I asked her to. I don’t know how long her strike lasted, but it was at least several weeks. Maybe several months. Things never went back to the way they’d bees before. Like I said. Very effective.
TBH, if my family refused even to wash the pasta water pot, I would only cook for myself.
