When the application file is in review by central committee, what is the process like? Once the file has been submitted by school, does anyone from selection committee contact the child’s school?
Our VP explained it like this (when it was done live, no clue it if it was live/virtual this year): Member of the central committee are seated at a table with a stack of submissions. Member A picks up a folder and says "Larla Jones from ABC Elementary." Nobody at that table should have any connection to a submission (no past teacher/admin at the school, no personal relationship, etc.). If there is one, the submission is set aside and reassigned to another table. Each person at the table reviews the submission. I don't know if they have them digitally to see so they can also review at the same time or what. Then they "vote" yes or no, and off they go to the next folder. They do not do any further research into the candidate or contact the school for anything additional. (Caveat: I have no clue if this is entirely accurate, but it is how it was portrayed to us during our parent meeting with the AART and VP. If someone knows different, please share!)
