DS, Asian, high stats, APs (5’s), summer internships (junior &sebior year) in his field of interest, was rejected last year after EA deferral. He is at CMU now. Friend’s DD, bi-racial, also high stats, full IB, rejected yesterday after EA deferral. Girl is waiting on acre Ivies and CMU. To those accepted, congratulations! Job well done. Everyone else, congratulation still for a job well done. Schools like MIT is just not big enough to take in all of the talents they meet. Don’t fret. There is a great school waiting to embrace you and everything you have to offer. Good luck for the rest of the admission season. I hope you are starting to make fun plans for the summer. You deserve it!!!
Congrats on CMU! What field? Any feedback?
CS. It is not easy, but no regret . BTW, DS didn’t go to a STEM magnet high school but met new friends who did. The first semester was rough for DS but he is doing great this semester. I guess he used the first semester to “catch-up” as some of the concepts taught then were reviews for the kids from magnet high schools. He has commented on how much he loves the company of like minded peers. It is high pressure but not cutthroat. kids are supportive of each other.
