The only reason the mandate has been dropped in DC is because there is a lawsuit from private school families. Good for them. Not sure how long it will be for DCPS though. [twitter]https://twitter.com/ADFLegal/status/1501194636848775173?s=20&t=tbyP7h5kS_tPUJI8KSx9vg[/twitter]
Lol. No. This is hysterical.
Why is it hysterical? Do you think the lawsuit had nothing to do with it?
It absolutely had everything to do with the lawsuit. Bowser had every intention of keeping the mandate in place for the unforeseen future. Four days ago, the DC SBOE released this statement: Two days later, there was one law suit filed and another threat of a lawsuit. Within less than 24 hours, Bowser lifted the mandate, but kept DCPS mandate in place. If this didn't have a hand in it, please do tell me what did.
Exactly. And DCPS parents should be grateful for the Catholic school parents who filed the lawsuit (after first giving Bowser a week to respond to their initial letter, which she ignored). DCPS parents should follow the same playbook -- The Mayor's continued insistence (against public health guidance) that students should wear masks is the definition of "arbitrary and capricious."
