We have an abundance of Bible translations and versions available today.

I agree with all of this.  The Christianity of 1st Century BCE just isn't a good fit for modern secular America. You have to make allowances and accommodations, which means picking the parts of the Bible you like and disregarding the rest (like most of it).  [/quote]
