7th grade: GDS and Sidwell are tied for first place. Otherwise she will stay in NYC with DH and me commuting every weekend for another year or two.
Ouch. I presume you have an SEC political appointment? Hopefully it pays off for your family.
Thanks. We’ve been doing it since September. I know it’s been harder for DH and me than DD. But she’s in such a great school in NYC that it doesn’t make sense to move her unless she’s in a great school here. Even GDS and Sidwell aren’t as highly ranked as her school in NYC.
Food for thought: Nobody cares about high school "ranks." They are not real. Your child's life in your family unit while still a child is far far far more important than some fleeting notion of a high school "rank."
While I agree the "highly ranked" comment came off a bit snobby, if her school in NYC is working well for her, she has friends and a strong social life, and is happy there, it might actually not make sense to move her to a new city/state where she has no friends, etc., unless you're really confident in the strength of the school and think it will be a good fit (regardless of "rank"), even if it means she sees Mom only on weekends. Different things work for different families.
+1 High school friends are social life is way more important than mom and dad. WTF
More food for thought -- Who TF cares what these people do? I'm sure they are competent parents and have thought about it carefully. So what if you would do something differently or even do the same thing. Stop derailing the thread with gratuitous advice no one asked for.
