Because I want schools to stay open and I want my child not to be excluded from schools over an exposure. In a few weeks we’re at test to stay, so that’s better.
Get your kid vaccinated or TTS.
Being vaccinated didn't prevent the recent surge.
Wearing masks didn't prevent the recent surge.
Our community as a whole wasn't masking. Many are just living their lives like it's 2019. Cases surged. And some businesses closed as a result. But our schools were masking and unlike so many other areas of the country, masks kept schools open here during the surge. Don't you want that?
✅ Yes the community as a whole was masking. ✅ Kids were out of school for the first two weeks of January so for the poster who notes there were more kids out for covid good news! they didn’t get exposed at schools ✅ It was widely acknowledged by professionals that despite masking and high vaccine rate, spread still occurred. ✅ The fear in Arlington is real. That fear is constantly pushed by parents to their children in subtle and not so subtle ways. There are always claims that they don’t discuss these things with their kids but kids overhear their rants, vents, and discussions. Kids know that they are wearing masks to prevent something scary - covid - from happening. And I think we have to stop pretending that this fear and anxiety subtle under current doesn’t effect kids. ✅ In an non judgemental way ask your kids if they know why they are wearing masks, when they think they might not have to wear a mask, what it means if they don’t have to wear a mask anymore, does the idea of not wearing a mask make them nervous, if wearing a mask helps protect them from something scary, what happens when someone gets covid. If you really listen you will probably be surprised at the answers you get from young kids.
It’s “affect” when used as a verb. And also, yeah, living through a Pandemic kind of sucks and is scary. I get it, you want it to be over, but pretending that is is won’t make it so. Battle fatigue is a b****.
