What is the difference between the three IB programs in Montco?
The point of the IB is that there is no difference. Possibly some schools offer more HL choices than others, or different SL electives but that's also subject to interest. The core programs are the same.
Why is RMIB selective and the others not?
RMIB is the only "county-wide" selective IB program, so it is harder to get into than the regional programs. I don't know why they haven't turned RMIB into a regional program--that was the original plan, but it never happened. Before regional IB programs were set up, RM had more HL courses (and more courses in general) than local IB programs. I don't know if this is still true. You'll have to look at course catalogs for individual high schools. RMIB has a very high diploma rate compared to local IB programs (regional programs haven't been around long enough to even graduate a class), so if getting the diploma is important to you and your kid, RMIB has a high success rate on making this happen.
