Schools offer admission to more students than the expect to actually enroll. If they overestimate the number of accepted students that enroll, they will then go to the wait list for candidates to fill available spots. They don't know who will actually enroll until deposits are due which is late in the Spring. Unusual situations do occur throughout the summer in which spots open up and they will go to the Wait List again in an attempt to fill those. Wait Lists are long-shots.[/quote]
