My former sister-in-law named all of her pets after her nieces and nephews, including naming her cat after my daughter. Her pets don't have masculine or feminine versions of our kids' names; they straight up have the same names. In my opinion, it is a tad strange, but it is not offensive. I can't imagine being offended.
Ha. Two of my cousins named their kids the same names as my cats. My cats are 5 years older though. I guess I am a trend-setter in the name department! (I am sure they have no idea what my cats are named, but we think about it frequently because to distinguish, my kids call the cats X and their cousins Baby X ... even when the cousins are no longer babies. My kids think it's hilarious. My cousins probably wouldn't but not my fault!)
