WL is a big school of course there are cases. My kid is at Hamm and many families opted in for weekly testing so every other week or so we get notice that a kid in 6th (or 7th or 8th) has tested positive- but nobody but test positive child is sitting out. A kid on my child’s indoor sports team was positive, but nobody else contracted it. I would assume many “healthy, asymptomatic” positive people are out there everywhere. Unless every single person walking around is tested daily (which is not possible). The best we can do as a society is vaccinate and anyone with symptoms is tested and then quarantines if positive.
I agree. We got to move beyond counting cases, to just dealing with people who are sick. The NFL is doing it. Right now, a W-L team has COVID and some crazy commenter on AEM is saying teams should wear a KN94 or KN95. That's completely ludicrous and I'm sure that person never played or coached sports. Many of these kids are going for scholarships, and need to play well. COVID was the least of their worries even before the vaccine. Now they're all vaccinated. Let's play ball boys!
W-L girls basketball canceled multiple games this week.
B/c of players or "out of an abundance of caution"? They need to stop testing asymptomatic players. These kids are going for scholarships. The NFL is stopping doing it and all sports should stop. We need to move to living with the virus.
What are you taking about the NFL is doing it? They’re still testing players. I haven’t even read this thread, but I do know people need to stop spreading misinformation.
NFL is not testing asymptomatic players. https://apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-nfl-sports-health-centers-for-disease-control-and-prevention-eeb613166aa977d119a28349d5aa70f6
Neither is the NHL, for now. They just shut down the whole league. Does that mean we should shut down HS sports because of what a professional sports league is doing? If a bar closes, does that mean a school can decide to close too? You are raising silly comparisons. You just don't care, which is fair enough. But jgo ahead and say what you mean.
