After all, Hanukkah is not really about candles and presents. It's about maintaining tradition in the face of pressure to assimilate.
I don't understand You have and are assimilated
exactly. Jewish people and the persecution complex is exhausting. My experience with many jewish people is that judaism isn't even important to them. I'm not surprised Op can't muster up the energy and care to light the candles. It isn't important to him. Frankly, I don't blame him because there is no proof any of these events in all religions even happened. LOL
Yup, we Jews have a real persecution complex, so weird -- where would we ever have even gotten the idea that we've been persecuted?
Life is good, be happy! Based on this forum complaints surround irritation about Christmas and the names of public school holidays, kids dressing for Halloween, someone saying merry Christmas by accident
Yeah, my kids love Halloween and I don't care if someone says Merry Christmas to me. My main persecution-related complaints involve things like the metal detectors that have been required to enter my synagogue ever since someone murdered 11 people in Pittsburgh just for being Jewish (and of course, it's not like persecution of Jews is a brand-new phenomenon, either).
