I'm curious- what in the world does this have to do with international travel?  Someone coudl take a week each year and go to London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Montreal, etc.  And someone else could teach their kids all about the sufferign in this world without leaving the country.  It just seems like you're talking about two totally different things.  Now, if you point is that you won't be friends with other who don't go on aid missions to impoverished regions, well, that's your business.  But fun has it's place in life, too.  It is possible to appreciate the advantages you've been given, realize that others have far less, and still enjoy a week's vacation at a nice place.  [/quote]
