No excuse made.  The reality is a lot of kids are really, really messed up right now.  Society needs to be prepared for an increase in violent school incidents and address things accordingly to prevent them as much as possible.  I don’t see you offering any solutions to actually combat the problem.  Prevention is key.  There were multiple incidents of violence in high schools in Maryland today.  It’s widespread.[/quote]

Newsflash: I don’t need to have a “solution.” Millions of kids came back to school after distance learning without turning into feral, aggressive wild animals.

For the ones who didn’t? Not my responsibility, not the school’s responsibility — the near adult high school student and their parents’ responsibility.

The “solution” is if you physically attack a teacher, charges are pressed, you go to juvie or jail, as age applicable, and you are no longer welcomed at school to endanger others. Here’s some info on alternative school for behavioral issues or GED classes.

Teacher here. I’ve worked in poor and suburban schools where fights is child’s play.

Very simple: child or not I dont give a flying fack. When my integrity is compromised I will defend myself with anything and everything. That includes chokeholds to put a student to sleep or a good old knuckle sandwich to the mouth. Either way I’m not going home maimed or disabled. I have a family. Sure. You don’t work as a teacher. You are clueless as to how much freedom kids have to do criminal-like behavior with zero consequences and you have no idea how teachers’ hands are tied up every year a bit tighter…

When your life is in jeopardy your brain does not care if there’s a minor in front or not. What’s in front is a threat. And threat must be neutralized in whatever way guarantees you will see another day with no disabilities or maiming sustained. I know you can’t grasp this simple concept but we don’t care.
