I absolutely called my parents to pick me up from school when I was a teen. My cramps were so bad I felt like I was going to pass out - I got cold and super pale. You might want to check into birth control or at least your DD starting to take Advil in advance of the pain which helped me alot. Basically I would start taking Advil on a regular schedule at the first sign of pain and through the first two days, rather than waiting until it was so bad.
+1 to all of this. I used to have to the above, taking prescription amounts of Advil, even when I was on birth control pills to manage this. Exercise did nothing to help me with this -- in high school, I was involved in sports; later, I biked or worked out 6 days a week. Sadly, perimenopause and having a kid in my late 30s was what helped. I wish that I would have pursued it further. I thought that it was normal but looking back I should not have accepted that.
