I just looked at 10/15 for a night and it is $800. Maybe there is a wedding or an event? My guess is that a block of rooms are sold out and the available rooms are priced high. Just a guess. I am looking to go away with a girlfriend and Miami hotels also seem priced much higher than pre covid. This was a rescheduled trip from 2020. Was just casually looking. It seems that anything that is semi luxury has increased their prices significantly while the meh hotels are still reasonable. I am positive this has to do with staff shortages and increases in operating costs.
You could stay at either of JWs in Miami that weekend for less than half of what you are paying for Salamander. Or you could stay at St Regis/Ritz for same price. There are roughly 20 other Marriott flagged hotels that are comparable in class to Salamander that you could stay at for $2-350/night. I would use my savings and fly to Miami.
I am not OP. St Regis and Ritz bal harbour are both over $1k per night but yes, I would much rather go to Miami.
