The average woman can have approximately one baby per year, the average man can father… I dunno, approaching infinity we’ll say just for the purpose of making the point. Additionally, women are fertile for a relatively short period of time in their lives, men remain fertile significantly longer. Note that I am not arguing whether or not this logic should still be the determining factor over which young people are selected as the cannon fodder of the rich and powerful, I am merely pointing out that there absolutely IS a reason, historically, that women are typically exempt from this task.[/quote]
